Hollywood Film Awards To Honor 'Monsters University' And 'Pacific Rim'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney-Pixar's Monsters University will receive the Hollywood Animation Award and Warner Bros.' Pacific Rim will receive the Hollywood Visual Effects Award at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards -- the first awards show of the 2013 season -- on Oct. 21 at the Beverly Hilton. more >>

Maker Camp Comes To Google
Learn Phenakistoscope, a historic relic credited for creating the illusion of animation
Maker Camp is a free, online summer camp that hosts cool, creative projects on Google Hangouts everyday at 11 am PT/2pm ET. There are 30 days of projects combined with virtual field trips on Fridays, ongoing until August 16. For our last hangout, we're going behind the scenes of Pixar Studios at 11am PT/2pm ET on the MAKE+ Hangout. We'll meet Pixar sculptor Jerome Ranft,to pick his brain on bringing clay characters characters to life. Later, the Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, will drop by for a special appearance.

Creating titles is something of an art and why there is a separate team usually making them. If you look at the credits of a TV show or film, you'll quite often see a completely different company credited for titles. Yes, there are businesses that JUST make titles and opening/closing sequences. Most video editing packages can do titles do some degree or other.
